FRUK talks to Stornoway’s principle songwriter, guitarist and Doctor of Ornithology Brian Briggs about their new album Bonxie an album that features the sounds of around 20 different species of bird. We also learn of his love for South Wales where he currently resides.

Once again there’s a strong indie pop sensibility informing the accessible, highly melodic tracks on Bonxie, though it’s less eclectic than its predecessor. Instead there is more of a direct connection with the summery, folksy roots of the debut, not least in rekindling their love affair with the shanty – and then there’s the birds.

Paul heads to London’s ‘The Hospital Club’ for the album launch of Stornoway’s new album Bonxie. The songs show a marked progression from the first two albums; more inventive, more confident and rounded, as are the band onstage.

Stornoway have revealed a short film on the making of their album “Tales from Terra Firma”. In a nutshell it is one of the best ‘making of’ films I’ve seen and if you haven’t got the album you’ll want it by the end. It’s Brilliant.
