Folk Radio UK is an independent radio station run on a cottage industry scale from our own home…we may operate small but we think big. We cover a huge array of artists and have over 660 artists playing in our current playlist right now. The majority are on small independent labels and many were unheard of by our listeners before we gave them airplay.

Our music is very mixed and varied but has a leaning towards indie folk / alt-folk although we also feature other progressive forms of folk.

We established the station in 2004 and have been building up a solid reputation in the field of Folk music mainly through word of mouth. It is thanks to readers, listeners and artists that we now attract over 22,000 visitors to this site every month. We were also a media sponsor for the fabulous Open House Festival set in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter in 2010.

We are based just outside of Bristol, UK where I live with my wife, two sons and two cats…but our reviewers are based far and wide.
