No, Fudgie dear, it is Homo Upisownfundamentus that has to be careful.

Don't worry about Auntie Jools and guitar tuning. She used to play when she was a kid you know. Not that she remembers much about it. She didn't have to tune her own guitar for long, luckily.

    Sigh.

Ah. I've never tried either variant of open C. Have to give them a go. Thanks!

i've just read the above quote, and the stream,
    leading to it .

From a personal point of view, i've found,
learning to play a ''favourite/classic song'',
''breaks the spell, shatters the dream''.
leave well alone ....that's my take !.

    see ya !.

With that attitued we would only learn songs/instrumentals that had no affect on us so I'm off to radio one to learn some of that .
Mind some of the chart toppers make great folk songs
Learning a piece of music and making it your own is what folk is all about .

Mmm, interesting to hear these two perspectives. Think my thoughts lie somewhere between the two. I think I'd always give it a go but also be prepared to be disappointed (experience suggests;))
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
