This one will be very hard to beat...

10th October 2009, Flagg - the first time I heard Sam & Rhiannon raise their voices in harmony. What a beautiful, unforgetable sound. Thanks guys, that moment will stay with me forever xx

It was a magical moment Sam. Both myself and Amanda have been raving about your wonderful duet to friends when re-telling the whole weekend...we get fair choked up by it all, it was great!

    As Fudged says, unforgettable!

    I've just had a moment.

I was reading Fudgies post about Hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy. and it all came flooding back.

It was the winter of '78, and I'd just moved to a derelict house in Norfolk. It was a very hard winter that year, the house had no central heating or plumbing system, and snow piled up in the corners of the upstairs rooms, where it came in through the holes in the roof, to be shovelled out of the window the following morning.
Everything was very primitive. The only way to take a bath was to heat the water in the old top-loader washing machine, and pump it out into the old disconnected bath, and by God, I was thankful for that, as I'd been pulling down the old reed-and-plaster ceilings, along with their accumulations of 150years worth of dust and soot.

The one piece of sanity in the whole affair was lying in bed on a mattress on the floor, by the glow of the open fire, in the one weatherproof room in the house, listening to HHGTTG, one of the finest pieces of Radio I have ever heard.

    Thanks for the reminder Fudgie.

It's spooky that you posted this Bob. I was very tempted to post something along the same lines when I read Fudge's post yesterday but in the end I read the extract from the new book instead. But, back in 1978, Jeanie and I lived in Leeds and I was lying in the bath late one night, listening as usual, to Radio 4 (remember there was no Folk Radio in those days:)). I had heard absolutely nothing in advance about the programme that was about to start but it took just a couple of minutes after that instantly recognised intro music from The Eagles to know that I was listening to something special. Jeanie rushed upstairs in response to my hoots of laughter and, I seem to recall, the 2 cats were pretty intrigued by it as well. Turned into a real family bath night;)
