Hi Frukies
BBC 4, 22.30 Tonight. A program about the indie record lable Rough Trade.
Quote from BBC site:
"Since 1978, indie label Rough Trade has been backing ground-breaking artists of every sensibility. From the post-punk girls who sound like they've been overheard singing to themselves at a bus stop, to the raw rock'n'roll of the Strokes and the Libertines, this compilation of BBC performances draws together some of the music that has made Rough Trade the institution it is.
Includes The Smiths, Robert Wyatt, Violent Femmes, Pulp and Antony and the Johnsons."

Not normally the first to spot these things, but, WAKE UP GUYS! Only 1Hr to go - BBC4 22.00, John Martyn - Johnny Too Bad. Profile of the great man. Followed at 23.00, half hour Old Grey Whistle Test of JM in concert in 1978.
Don't miss it!
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
Johnny,
Thanks for the heads up.
Missed the first hour but caught TOGWT. Fabulous! I just got really emotional watching that.
I see it's repeated tonight from 12:50 to 2:20, so I'll try and record it on the pooter.
Cheers
This will go on, though dynasties pass.....
......but we will walk this world with music.

Thanks JD
I did miss it but as Bob say's it's being repeated tonight so I may catch it then. Most of the stuff on BBC4 gets repeated about four times then goes onto BBC2

I just watched it all through this morning - Blimey, what a jumbled up bag of emotion in that man.
I have to say that I loved every phase that he went through, but my favourite albums will always be The Tumbler (the first one I bought, when I hadn't a clue who he was), One World (for opening up my mind with Small Hours; the most fantastic track EVER), and Glorious Fool (for his collaboration with Phil Collins, which at that time over-rode all the music mush that was being put out on the radio. I played the album to death.)
Then, of course, there are all his other albums that I like nearly as much.
