After spending many years on the road with Michael Flatley, Cora Smyth has managed to produce her first solo album: Are we There Yet? Cora draws on remarkable and varied influences from blues to gypsy jazz for inspiration and she manages to pull it off with great panache and style. Although the album pulls on such diverse influences Cora keeps the album firmly in the tradition of her roots. Cora grew up in Co. Mayo where she was taught to play fiddle by her father, TJ. She went on to win several All-Ireland titles. The album has many unique moments and I've yet to hear anything else like it. The combination of instruments, especially Fiddle and organ introduce a new and exciting sound to traditional music that will have you off your seats and dancing. A brilliant production by Cora Smyth and her hisband, Sean Horsman. Video: Cora duelling on Riverdance with Máiréad Nesbitt
