Sarah McQuaid - When Two Lovers Meet Print E-mail
Thursday, 03 April 2008

ImageThis debut album from Sarah McQuaid was first given a very limited release in Ireland in 1997. Word of mouth and very positive reviews have slowly built up the record’s reputation and established a demand for this hidden treasure to be unearthed and re-released 10 years on.

Featuring sparkling guitar instrumentals alongside songs both accompanied and a cappella, the album is beautifully produced by Gerry O’Beirne, and features guest appearances from a number of traditional music luminaries - piper John McSherry, singer Niamh Parsons, bass player Trevor Hutchinson, cellist Kevin Murphy, fiddler Colm McCaughey, keyboard player Rod McVey, and of course O’Beirne himself.

Don’t expect a big wash of sound, however - this is above all a gentle album, spare and understated, with Sarah’s voice and guitar always to the fore.
