This 23 year old Manchester based artist is casting her spell over many people right now with her debut album "Battle and Victory". She is getting airplay across the BBC, one they beat me on, I admit...recorded in a 17th century cottage in rural Wales and a village hall on the outskirts of Manchester.
There's a great variety on here folks so don't think every track is as prescribed above. Coriander, a track that I've included is so cleverly orchestrated with accordion, clarinet and brass and a great Balkan like rythmn. This is one hell of a clever artist and instrumentalist. She's also not afraid to experiment and draws you into a quite a surreal experience on a few tracks including "8 Brown Legs". She has supported James Yorkston, Tunng, A Hawk and A Hacksaw, Marissa Nadler, Espers, The Memory Band and Josephine Foster all of whom have featured on here and most of whom still do.... Definately a name to watch out for! Video is a track called "Off with Your Axe" which features on the album:

I loved it, I still do! She plays most instruments including a 22-string Celtic harp, dulcimer, Indian harmonium and guitar. I don't like comparing artists as I try where possible to draw on their own qualities but she does remind me of Vashti Bunyan although Nancy's voice is more restful and dream like...I just drifted away to this album...it was great...
