Nancy Wallace was born a folk brat, and spent far more of her formative years than is healthy in the back rooms of Suffolk pubs, singing and playing her little heart out. In her teen years - and possibly as a result of a concussion caused by a stray morris stick - she joined an electric barn dance band playing the trombone. There being many barns in Suffolk, this proved very lucrative, but the bright lights called, so she packed her knapsack and moved to London. Now she sings with the Memory Band, and is currently impressing her band mates with her prowess on the glockenspiel - a ten minute solo is sure to be a highlight of future MB performances. When they tire of this and fire her for crimes against tuned percussion, she will have plenty of time to concentrate on her solo efforts, which are in evidence on this page. Lucky girl that she is, she has roped in some fine musicians in Jennymay Logan (Elysian Quartet, Memory Band), Simon Lord (oh, you name it...) and Stefan Melzak (Ralfe Band, Bird Man Ray). and very lovely they all are too. Her "Young Hearts" EP is available now from Spinney Records. or  Rough Trade . or HMV. The new Memory Band single "Why/Come Write me Down" is out now!
