We have introduced a new feature to Folk Radio UK. When you click on our playlist link you will see a newly designed playlist format which includes a number of new features:

As you can see from the image above you will see an image of the artist playing along with the track and three small icons. With these you can:

Vote for a track: By clicking on the ‘star’ icon you can vote for a track. Those votes will go towards a new rating system that will produce our Top Twenty Tracks. You can see the results at anytime here.

Buy a Track: By clicking on the ‘Amazon’ icon you can buy the mp3 track playing (if available).

Find out more: Click on the ‘LastFM’ icon and a pop-up window will display details about the artist as well as tour dates (if available).

Other News: Update Your Listen Links

We have changed our listen links so you will need to update your locally stored links or listening devices if you use wifi radio or similar. The listen links on our website have been updated as has our Help Page. The old links will be turned off over this week/next week.

Those of you that listen using the ‘TuneIn Radio Pro – TuneIn‘ app for iPhone, iTouch, iPad need not do anything as those links will be updated. iTunes will also be updated. Pure Radio should also be updated shortly. Just get in touch if you have any problems (alex [at] folkradio.co.uk).

This was a lovely surprise. I got a message to say Folk Radio UK was in the Guardian today. Guardian journalist, Elisabeth Mahoney, described Folk Radio as “back-to-back music of the most gentle, serene sort, and a marvellous companion for a few hours.” Full article below

We seem to have trebled our listeners on our Frukie Channel in the last couple of days so I’ve had to add more listener slots. Which I’ve just done. You’ll need to open the listen links page and refresh it so the links update. The flash player won’t pick up the changes until tomorrow when Shoutcast update our links.
