Last year saw the release of Carry Your Kin, the debut album from The Breath, a collaboration between Irish singer / flautist Ríoghnach Connolly (Honeyfeet, Afro Celt Soundsystem) and Stuart McCallum (The Cinematic Orchestra). A Featured Album of the Month on Folk Radio UK (read the review here), Neil McFadyen described the album as “a harmonious alliance between contrasting elements that rolls across the senses like clouds caress low hills – always moving, changing, evolving; and utterly fascinating.”
Real World records have now released Acoustic, a new digital EP from The Breath featuring, as the title suggest, acoustic interpretations of tracks from their debut. The stripped back recordings heighten the emotion that Ríoghnach Connolly draws from a song making this a powerful and moving set. Watch all four studio recordings below:
