Earlier this year, Yorkston/Thorne/Khan released their wonderful second album Neuk Wight Delhi All-Stars. IN our FRUK review, David Kidman concluded their success was “undoubtedly due to the deep-seated and gently natural bond between the three musicians and their total willingness to embrace each other’s artistic vision.”
Those visions materialised as a confluence of currents, among them the north Indian sarangi; jazz-tinged bass; acoustic guitar that owed a debt to Elizabeth Cotton, Dick Gaughan and Mississippi John Hurt; and three very different vocalists – James Yorkston (East Neuk of Fife), Jon Thorne (Isle of Wight) and Suhail Yusuf Khan (New Delhi).
The trio are now pleased to announce news of Chori Chori Remixes EP which will be released on June 24th. Listen to the remix of ‘Chori Chori’ (also our Song of the Day) by Irish alt-folk and electronica alchemist Seamus Fogarty.
It also features a remix by Miaoux Miaoux aka Julian Corrie who is the newest member of Franz Ferdinand and has previously produced Malcolm Middleton and remixed ChVrches, Mogwai and Lindstrom.
The third remix of the EP is by DJ Random otherwise known as YTK’s very own Jon Thorne and will be shared later this month.
Yorkston/Thorne/Khan continue their touring with select shows around the UK plus appearances at Glastonbury, Latitude, and Green Man festivals.
