Orkney duo Gnoss have transformed into a four-piece with Graham Rorie and Aidan Moodie being joined by Connor Sinclair on whistle and harmony vocals and Gregor Kincaid on bodhran and percussion. Their new single ‘Waves‘ gives a glimpse of a very bright future. Joined by James Lindsay on double bass and co-produced with Scott Wood you couldn’t ask for a nicer sounding single to showcase their fresh new sound.
Everything is perfectly placed in the mix; no instrument is over-stated, and there are some beautiful moments courtesy of mandolin and whistle which dance along over some great bodhran and double bass, driven along by Moodie’s guitar. Their combined musicianship lifts the whole song and draws perfectly on that imagery of the summer memories now gone that feature in the song. I’m looking forward to hearing more.
