Many of you may have missed this collaboration the first time around, so here’s a great session from the Sea Road Sessions – named after the maritime route historically linking Sweden, Scotland and Ireland. This six-piece line-up should need no introduction: singer/guitarist Kris Drever (Lau), accordionist Alan Kelly (Eddi Reader), guitarist Ian Carr (Kate Rusby), banjoist Éamonn Coyne (Salsa Celtica), flautist/singer Steph Geremia (Alan Kelly Gang) and bassist Staffan Lindors (Sofia Karlsson).
They released an EP in January 2015 which you can still purchase via Bandcamp here. They also toured that same month appearing at Celtic Connections where, during their soundcheck, this session was produced by our good friend John Gray. Beads and Feathers was written by Edinburgh underground hero Sandy Wright and it featured on Kris Drever’s debut release Black Water (2006). It’s also our Song of the Day.
