We have an exclusive video session to share with you from London based songwriter Joe Innes who is currently running an IndieGoGo campaign to release his first album with his band ‘The Cavalcade’. You can find out more about it here.
Here’s what Joe had to say about Cabin in the Woods:
Cabin In The Woods is a brand new song which will be on the new album, and is one of its key tracks. It’s about being overwhelmed by responsibility, and I guess, about growing up. I’m obsessed by pop culture, and that’s always come through in my songwriting – this song is no different. I suppose it asks the question; can a person be capable of fulfilling their adult responsibilities while still seeing the world through a filter of science fiction and fantasy. I don’t think it answers that question, though my songs always tend to be some sort of meditation on how I process emotions, whether those emotions are love, anxiety, fear etc. I’m not sure anyone will relate to it, but I guess we’ll find out!
We’ve been working with Dave Gerard on the new album (you should know him – he’s an incredibly talented folk artist and producer who I believe has featured and been played many times on Folk Radio UK), and I’m so excited about what we’ve done with this song – it’s got so much to it, and has really evolved from just being guitar and voice – I’m really looking forward to finishing it! Make sure you get involved with our indiegogo campaign before it’s too late…
