Our Song of the Day is from Glasgow-based band Randolph’s Leap via their video premiere for Under the Sun, a new song taken from their second album Cowardly Deeds coming out on May 20th!
Lead singer Adam Ross shared this about the song:
“I wrote Under The Sun a while ago during the breakdown of a good friendship. One of the worst and most regrettable parts of that experience was a pedantic, point-scoring war of emails that I stupidly ended up falling into. That’s what inspired the bitter lyrics, particularly in the second verse, but I wanted to counterbalance that with a really positive chorus. A wave of emotion and clarity that I experienced after getting some fresh air and distance from the whole thing. I got Heather from the band to listen to the violin solo at the end of Karen Dalton’s ‘Something On Your Mind’ before recording this, so I hope there’s a tiny flavour of that going on.”
“The video was produced by Graeme O’Hara, who we’d like to thank for all of his hard work, creativity and patience, piecing together hundreds of still photos to create the stop-motion style passage in the video”
