The Lake District Folk Weekend is a new family-friendly folk festival centred around Hawkshead Brewery’s ‘Beer Hall’ which takes place over the weekend of 7, 8 & 9th August 2015 in the picturesque Lakeland village of Staveley, nr Kendal.
A Friday night concert kicks events off in the beautiful, intimate Staveley Roundhouse Theatre – headlined by Folk legend Tom McConville and strong supporting bill of local songwriting duo Chapin-Wickwar and emerging Folk singer Dan Webster whose latest album The Tin Man was a featured album of the month back in February (read our review).
Saturday sees concerts and sessions in various venues throughout the village followed by the evening ‘big session’ for all until late!
Seeing as this is in the beautiful and scenic Lakes what better than a Sunday ramble around the village, an afternoon singing session in the Eagle & Child pub, open sessions throughout the village, then a closing Open Mic ‘Sunday Session’ at the Beer Hall.
Acts appearing over the weekend include The Bramble Napskins, Jacqueline MacDonald, Andy Halsey, Quartz, Jessica Lawson and John Sayer.
Organisers Phil Simpson & Geoff Maskell say ‘it will be great to welcome a host of talented musicians, dancers and storytellers to the event. We just want to create a great buzz of music and people and we’re looking forward to creating an inclusive, informal, fun and family-friendly weekend in our beautiful county.’
Bring your walking boots, voices, instruments and your drinking heads!
