The annual Fleadh Nua returns to Ennis, County Clare, Ireland from this coming Sunday 17th through to 25th May for those of you looking for some great Irish Traditional music and cultural celebrations. This year’s event will feature almost 60 separate events and a Pub Music Trail boasting over 70 sessions in 23 venues. Highlights include:
Loise An Traidisiún – Seán Ó Sé
Seán Ó Sé who headlines their Celebrity Concert is a man who’s been entertaining audiences near and far for over 50 years and is also the very ‘personification of the concept underlying the concert series.’ Seán will also be presented with the inaugural Loise An Traidisiún award for a life of exemplary service dedicated to Traditional Singing agus an Ghaeilge. The presentation will take place as part of the Celebrity Concert which is being held in Glór on Saturday, 23rd May. With performances by the TURLOUGHMORE CÉILÍ BAND, PEADAR Ó RIADA, MICHAEL TUBRIDY, NORA BUTLER, EILEEN O’BRIEN, MARTIN DONOHOE AND CHRIS DRONEY this year’s Celebrity Concert promises to be one to remember.
Seán was born into an Irish speaking family immersed in traditional music and song. His collaboration with Seán Ó Riada and Ceoltóirí Chualann in the 1960’s culminated in “Ó Riada sa Gaiety” – a seminal recording which would feature on many a Desert Island Disc selection. A tenor and raconteur of the first rank, Seán’s singing talent and storytelling ability have been in great demand throughout Ireland and abroad for over 50 years and he has toured and recorded extensively in that time.

Jack Talty & Cormac Begley Recital
JACK TALTY and CORMAC BEGLEY carry a wealth of musical heritage from west Clare and west Kerry respectively. The masterful weaving of regional styles inherent in their duet playing, ranging over five octaves, has defined their inimitable and unmistakable duet sound, a considerable achievement for two musicians still in their mid-20s.
