We have a great video premiere today from Ian Carr performing the title track from his new album ‘Who He?’, one of our current Featured Albums of the Month. He performs it with Thomas Gibbs on harmonium and it was recorded in Glasgow by John Douglas (Trashcan Sinatras/ Eddi Reader), watch it below:
Talking about this particular track in his album review Simon spoke of the ‘single note’ start on the guitar suggesting it was “A less is more philosophy, perhaps.” He added “It’s more a means of setting the root, around which harmony is layered and the tune spirals outward with increasing rhythmic complexity as a harmonium…[it] has a beautiful, organic precision, more human than mechanical, yet also crystalline in its repetition.”
If you haven’t read it, make sure you also read our recent interview with Ian, one of the funniest we’ve featured in a while. Read it here.
