Micah P. Hinson and the Gospel of Progress is an unforgettable album, released in 2004 tracks such as ‘Beneath the Rose’ became an instant favourite with many listeners to our radio stream back then called The Edge which played the more leftfield offerings of the day. We weren’t alone in our praise, the album made numerous End Of Year Best Of polls and also reached no.5 in Rough Trade Shop’s 100 Best Albums Of 2004.
It seems only fitting that as we ourselves celebrate our tenth anniversary this year that ‘Beneath the Rose’ features as our Song of the Day. The album which sold out and has long been unavailable is to be re-issued on the French label Talitres who also released Micah’s most recent offering, ‘Micah P. Hinson and the Nothing’ (March, 2014). The re-issue will be a remastered version and will also be available on vinyl for the first time, as a gatefold, double LP, featuring bonus track ‘Can’t Change A Thing’ (originally released on ‘The Day Texas Sank to the Bottom of the Sea’ 10-inch vinyl).
