Today’s Song of the Day is an absolute classic. Anti- Records stable mates Sean Rowe & Lost In The Trees took some time out during rehearsals at the Ace Hotel in Portland, OR to perform a cover of Leonard Cohen’s “So Long, Marianne”.
The song was originally inspired by Marianne Jensen (later Marianne Ihlen), whom Cohen met on the Greek island of Hydra in 1960…he said she was the most beautiful woman he had ever met. They lived together throughout the 1960s and you can find a photo of her on the back cover of his second album, Songs From a Room (see below).
