Our Song of the Day is from the gravelly quiet vocals of Ian Williams of the Dead Flowers, a London based Alt.Country / Americana band. Our song of choice Make it Bright is from their debut album Midnight At The Wheel Club released in November last year on Hee Haw Records. Whilst there is an air of melancholy to their songs the band who were formed under The Wonderwheel on Coney Island also carry glimpses of light that give both their own songs and their covers a very special magic.
To prove the point I’ve over-indulged and included two covers below. One is a Yo La Tengo cover (I’ll Be Around) and the second is a favourite Laura Gibson track of mine: Milk Heavy, Pollen Heart. Both are exceptional and are free to download.
