The Fold is a film directed by John Jencks and is set in Cornwall in the south-west of England (due for release March 28th 2014). After losing her daughter Anglican priest Rebecca Ashton along with her surviving daughter leave the city for the wilds of Cornwall, Rebecca forms a volatile friendship with migrant worker Radka Dimitrova. Memories of her deceased daughter bring her ever closer to the girl, warping their friendship until they become a danger to one another.
The music in the film is interwoven throughout give it a very deep emotional movement. It features an incredible range from a sea shanty and a gypsy folk band to a thirty-person choir in Truro Cathedral all of which was composed by breakthrough British composer Donna McKevitt who has previously collaborated with Michael Nyman, Derek Jarman and Tricky.
With the music being such an intrinsic part of the film a kickstarter campaign has been launched to start the process which will lead to printing the first run of 300 CD’s and a digital album of the soundtrack.
