Tandem are Dave Malkin (guitar and vocals) and Henry Webster (fiddle) with composer and electronic musician Ben Corrigan. Whilst both Dave and Henry share a love of traditional music they have pushed that boundary of interpretation with the help of Ben whose electronic effects and manipulations work really well alongside their own interpretations as evidenced on their debut album ‘From Good Stock’.
The tracks featured bounce around from the electronic minimalism of Golden Harps to the more traditional leaning, albeit with a contemporary twist, ‘After the Gate‘. Dave Malkin’s vocals reminded me a little of Chris Wood at times which is no bad thing in my books. Just feast our ears on 1698 (also below) which he delivers in top form. They are an original trio that are really worth keeping on your radar.
