Welsh band Islet have teamed up with visual artist Casper White to make the video for Tripping Through The Blue Room (Part II) which features on their forthcoming album, ‘Released By The Movement‘ which is released on 7th October 2013 on Shape Records.
White’s unique process has been described as an act of ‘creative destruction’. For this video he painted a series of portraits of the band members directly onto ice blocks, allowing layers to freeze and then to thaw under the gaze of a video camera. This footage was layered with shots of the band members shrouded in gauze, composed as though sitting for a portrait.
The haunting video is a visual interpretation of the track’s softly intense, organic sound, where wordless vocals drift in and out of focus. Facial features liquefy and disintegrate as the instrumentation swells and coalesces. Much of Islet’s forthcoming album plays out as a recorded stream of consciousness, and White’s video translates the dark tension of the track into an astonishing and mesmerising short film.
