Le Vent Du Nord hit the UK shores for July and August making a number of appearances including The Sage, Gateshead, WOMAD, Cambridge Folk Festival, Warwick Folk Festival and Sidmouth Folk Festival and more.
Le Vent Du Nord which translates as ‘Wind from the North’ perform traditional Québécois music in French which is heavily influenced by Celtic music from both Ireland and Brittany, they have built up a strong UK following on the folk festival circuit since their formation in 2002 and are a firm festival favourite which is no surprise when you combine the numerous (close to 1000) concerts in North America and Europe they’ve performed…once you see their energetic stage shows which feature a very diverse range of musical instruments augmented by Québécois Foot Percussion you’ll understand why they’ve been such a big success.
They released their seventh album ‘Tromper Le Temps‘ in 2012 and are acknowledged as one of the key groups in Quebec’s traditional music revival. They are recipients of the Grand Prix du Disque 2012 ‘Musique du Monde’ (World Music) from The Académie Charles Cros.
