And so our journey reaches its end, we hope you have enjoyed sharing these tracks with us week by week. It’s easy to argue that it’s his best album to date and the unique line up has certainly created something very different in the folk world. The CD format will be available on general sale on 1st July.
The Wolfless Years is a lovely and fitting conclusion and typifies the way that Chris plucks details from the world at large to quietly make his point. In this case it’s one of the unexpected benefits of the reintroduction of Wolves to parts of North America and Chris says, “In parts of North America where the wolf has been re‐introduced, an unforeseen wonder has been the re‐emergence of wild flower meadows in the mountains. The metaphor was obvious, perhaps too obvious, but I thought I’d push on anyway.”
The simple sentiment of not wanting more than we need is easily within our gift, yet sounds so radical. Perhaps it just needs to be said more often and yet this entreaty is not to any higher power but to all of us. Amen to that.
