Ajimal is the solo project of Newcastle based Fran O’Hanlon. He performs incredible heart-stopping moments on guitar and piano that beckon silence from any listener. The acoustics and reverb are in response to his incredible voice, his most powerful instrument of all which holds a beautiful and expressive depth of emotion.
There is a haunting delicacy to his performances which are heightened by his moving lyrics, stunning vocals and subtle lines aided by loop pedal and instruments that accentuate that stillness. He leaves an enduring impression, this music is so beautiful and intimate, incredible!
He is currently studying medicine in Edinburgh, Ajimal performed sold-out shows at The Roundhouse and Evolution Emerging, as well as The Sage Gateshead and has supported the likes of James Vincent McMorrow, The Jezabels, Little Comets, Malcolm Middleton, Hauschka and David McAlmont. A new single is scheduled for early 2013 in follow up to his 2012 EP Footnote to Love before the full release of concept mini-album ‘Childhood’ which features guests including Mick Ross, Little Comets’ Rob Coles and fellow North East singer-songwriter The Lake Poets.
