So what has Bob Meyer got in store for us in Episode #8 of Bob’s Folk Show – The Live Sessions? He has Indigo Earth and George Frakes both of whom I saw putting on storming performances at the London Folk and Roots Festival recently, talk about dedication…Bob worked his socks off putting that together! You will love this show, the first of which will be broadcast tomorrow, Friday 9th November at 8:00PM. If you don’t want to miss them then add them to your google calender and set a reminder…you can find the google schedule here along with a calender link at the bottom.
I’ll leave it to Bob to introduce our very welcome guests:
Indigo Earth blew the roof off The London Folk and Roots Festival last month, I like the way folk music is going in the UK and there are loads of great young modern folk bands sending me music for my show and coming to do live sessions. Indigo Earth are one of my favourite and I love the fact that they are not constricted by musical bigotry that usually comes from the old school fingers in the ears “trad” folkies that seem to always put down young folk making folk music in the UK in 21st century.
Indigo Earth are a great tight band and it was an absolute pleasure to spent time with them in the radio studio, go and see them live you will pulled in to there music and they will make you smile and give you goose bumps and that is what it should be about.
George Frakes has the best hair of anyone in the folk world! But don’t let his dandified, foppish ways fool you into thinking that he is all style and no substance. For, under his beautifully coiffured head there lies the brain of a rather fine songwriter who can sing and play the guitar with such style and emotion that even the most drunken punter in any folk club will stop what they are doing and watch him. He truly is a one off. His music drifts around you like a Dickensian smog, mysterious and, at times, very dark indeed.
