It’s that time of year again and The Scots Trad Music Awards will be celebrating their 10th year at Fort William’s Nevis Centre on the 7th and 8th December 2012. Preparations for the event are well underway with the acts performing on the night already booked which feature some of our favourites. It promises to be a great night and if you missed last year’s then read our live review here. In the meantime here’s a reminder of why it’s so popular, this is a clip of the opening of the ceremony, it’s one big party!

The acts booked for the Trad Music Awards on the 8th December are:

Treacherous Orchestra
Karine Polwart
Mairearad and Anna
Rona Wilkie
Inveraray and District Pipe Band
National Association of Accordion and Fiddle Clubs Celebration
Mike Whellans
Man’s Ruin
Gaelic Women
Gordon Duncan Experience
Tribute to National Association of Accordion and Fiddle Clubs

Tickets for the show are £20 and are available from the Nevis Centre Box Office on 01397 700707. The show starts at 7pm.

Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame

In 2005 at the Scots Trad Music Awards The Hall of Fame was launched for which inductees are selected annually. Past inductees can be heard in the clip below which includes Doc Watson ho as inducted in 2004 under the Hamish Henderson Services to Traditional Music Award.

This year they will be honouring the 2012 inductees by having a 3 course dinner with compere John Carmichael and amazing legendary acts
