I came across this short documentary recently which was filmed by Indian DJ / art collective B.L.O.T. (Basic Love of Things) from New Delhi. They are putting together an audiovisual portrait of Bombay (the locals preferred this to Mumbai). From the music mix which is made up of ‘found sounds’ from around Bombay to the montage of visuals it works incredibly well. The film is a Somesuch & Co documentary who seem pretty pleased with the outcome. They achieve some incredible results wth some of the simplest ideas…no easy task when the producer Yogesh is in continual fear of being busted by the police.
This was his main concern, despite the continual lack of police interference. To be fair to him, he also managed to persuade a cabbie to stuff a generator the size of a dishwasher in his boot so we could project films from the windows.
