Martha Wainwright has unveiled her video for Proserpina which is from her upcoming album, Come Home To Mama, released on 15th October on V2. The emotion she puts into this performance is a fitting tribute to her late mother, the legendary folk singer Kate McGarrigle, it was the last song she wrote.
Martha had this to say:
“It’s the last song my mother wrote, and of course I also think that she wrote it for me, and for Rufus. We wrote songs together, ever since we were children. As we sing her songs, I think her voice can be heard in ours, literally through our pipes.”
The video was filmed and directed by Matthu Placek in Sean Lennon’s New York home studio. His aim was clear from the start, it was all to be about Martha’s performance.
