Patch & the Giant are a north London based alternative folk band who have been kicking up the dust since 2011. The band sport a huge variety of instruments from mandolin to flugelhorn and for such a large ensemble hold it together incredibly well thanks to some very clever arrangements which are fresh and crisp. Just check out San Salvador which has great Curtis Eller styled theatrical moments. Whilst ‘Are You Listening‘ slows it down to a gentle grace with choruses that are reminiscent of Mumford and Sons. Another band that shows the London folk scene is alive and kicking!
They’re a band you should make an effort to catch, they’ve been sharing the bill with some of our favourite bands recently including Dave Gerard and the Watchmen, Daniel Green of Laish and many more. They’ve also play The Folkroom at The Queens Head in Acton St. and are about to start a tour of South England kicking off with a London headline show on Friday 24th August at Surya with Keston Cobblers Club and Lazy Heart Parade (full dates below).
