Benoît Pioulard is the pseudonym of Portland-based artist, writer and photographer Thomas Meluch. His fascination with music and field recordings began at a young age. He started playing piano at the age of 5 and was given a tape recorder at the age of 9 when he began to record noises around the house and in his backyard he later began to write his own songs in his early teens. A fascination with the sounds of nature and tape decay led to him making numerous field recordings which began in the mid-90′s which were released on very limited CD-Rs and cassettes to just friends and family.

The video below is from a performance at Cafe OTO earlier this year.
