We spoke to the band founder James Green recently who told us that the band have a new album out in July, a follow up the ‘Folk Songs’ album they did with James Yorkston.
“It is entitled ‘Folk Songs II’ by The Big Eyes Family Players & Friends, and is coming out on Static Caravan. This time contributors include Nancy Elizabeth, Mary Hampton, Alasdair Roberts, James William Hindle, Adrian Crowley, Elle Osborne, Sharron Kraus, Heather Ditch and again James Yorkston. It is another collection of traditional folk numbers, put through the Big Eyes mincer, so not particularly traditional. However, its not Dubstep either”.
Some of you may recall that James co-curated The Folk Forest last year, a two day stage which is part of Tramlines Festival in Sheffield. James is involved again this year, The Big Eyes Family Players will be playing on Saturday July 21st along with some other great names: Mary Hampton, James Yorkston, Rachael Dadd and many more…more names will be announced very soon, in the meantime go check them out:
