This latest session from Jess Morgan is simply stunning, the perfect early Christmas present. Many listeners will be familiar with Jess’s music which we have featured in our Folk Radio UK playlist. She hails from Norwich, England and in her music draws on British and American folk influences. She is a talented guitarist, as this session will show, and has a unique warm voice that draws you in. Her lyrics reflect her natural ability to transform the everyday into unique moments in time. She accentuates her delivery with impeccable timing of acoustic and vocal inter-play making her live performances both captivating and memorable. She is a great talent and one I hope we will see a lot more of on the live folk circuit in 2012.

Recorded with musical friends and collaborators in Bergen, Norway, Jess self-released her debut album, ‘All Swell’, to notable acclaim in 2010. Working completely independently, she gained the attention of BBC Radio 2’s Steve Lamacq, Rock ‘n’ Reel Magazine and Acoustic Magazine amongst a myriad of grassroots supporters in the form of smaller press outlets, independent promoters, and other musicians and songwriters (including Megson and Nicky Chinn).

Extensive touring across the world has seen Jess gain an international fanbase. Regular shows in Norway, Germany and Holland, as well as a three-week tour of the US last winter, have seen Jess become something of a musical troubadour over the past year. Here in the UK, Jess has self-booked tours taking her up and down the country, including supports with folk-pop upcomers Paper Aeroplanes, sister duo First Aid Kit (Wichita Recordings) and trad folk legends Megson amongst others.

Spring 2012 will see Jess release her second album with the help of a Pledge Music campaign as well as touring in the UK, Europe and beyond!

We in The Proposition have long been fans of Jess Morgan. Her debut album was beautiful. The second looks like it’s going to be even better. Jess is special!

Whatever you call that special something that makes an artist stand out from the crowd, Jess has it in spades. A captivating performer of timeless and beautifully-crafted songs and a born story-teller.

‘All Swell’ is in my all time top 5 debut albums. Jess is a poet as well as a wonderful singer/songwriter. Can’t wait for the new album. A Unique artist.
