Our good friends at Harmonic Rooms recently caught up with British guitar player Nick Jonah Davis while and after he toured with six and twelve steel string guitar player Steffen Basho-Junghans. They put together a great video interview which also features performance highlights which you can watch below.
Nick hails from Nottingham, England and it was his discovery of prewar blues and modal British folk upon which he began to develop his improvisational skills. As stated on his label’s site it was the post-Takoma acoustic guitar solo scene that provides a context for Nick’s music, which might otherwise have remained a private endeavour.
You can hear tracks from Nick’s second full album Of Time And Tides : Guitar Recordings Vol. II in our current playlist. It was released earlier this year on Tompkins Square.
