Things have been very busy this summer for northerners Stu Hanna and Debbie Hanna, better known as the super British folk duo Megson. They have, if you haven’t already heard, been getting used to their new band member – Lola Wren, their daughter, who was born on the 7th June.
Our little songbird has been patiently listening to the new material and letting us know what she thinks with little smiles and frowns – strangely she always cries when Stu sings – oh well… wait till she hears the banjo.
They have some new shows coming up over the next few months kicking off with the very first Sunderland Folk Festival. The festival takes place on the bank holiday weekend Saturday 27 – Monday 29 August with Megson’s performances on the Saturday. The main festival site is on the river side next to the National Glass Centre with other venues include Mowbray Park and key sites around the City Centre. Artists booked to perform include Cara Dillon, Alistair Anderson and Ewan Mclennan. For full details and to buy tickets visit their website here.
