The Boxer Rebellion have released a new album this month called The Cold Still and with it is a strong will to raise the mainstream consciousness of this little heard UK band who share some resemblance to the likes of Elbow. To a lot of folks they will be new, but they are definately worth a listen. You can listen to the full album below.
The band have, in the past, garnered there strength from looking inwards. They openly admit that they would have individually quit the music industry by now if they were all solo performers. It may be their overly willing seclusion that has barred their entry into larger commercial fields or just a run of bad luck. They certainly tick all the boxes on the talent front.
The Cold Still re-enforces a commitment to succeed but this time they upped the ante and co-opted the production talents of Ethan Johns. The decision to bring on Johns to produce the album was probably their best shout to date. He produced Laura Marling’s I Speak Because I Can that led her on to huge success…need I say anymore?
The band have stood in the shadows long enough now. Having just completed a number of UK dates, with a few left to go, and with a highly polished album now out, there is a lot more hope for them hitting the mainstream indie rock scene, we hope…
