A new feature on Folk Radio UK is a favourite weekly video. We decided to start at the top of the rung, this will be hard to beat: a 1989 edition of “Aly Bain and Friends”, with none other than Dick Gaughan performing ‘Both Sides the Tweed’ from his 1980 “Handful of Earth” album.
Thanks to Niamh Parsons for hunting this one out!
And a bonus treat! (especially for Kelvin!)

I’ll get it right one day:)
There’s a surprise! I uploaded this to You Tube during January. It was originally on an old dusty video tape that had been lying around amongst a boxful of others for a couple of decades. I was intrigued when the viewing figures started to rocket, until I realized the reason was that you’d featured it as your Video of the Week. Thanks for giving this fabulous performance the exposure it deserves.
Incidentally, if you’re watching it directly on YouTube, click on the dropdown of the other videos I’ve posted over recent weeks – there’s some equally rare stuff from the likes of Capercaillie, Dougie MacLean and Wolfstone as well as a couple of mine. The YouTube name is 610210jc1. Any comments on the video montage of “Glasgow” would be particularly welcome.
Keep up the good work! – John
