Caught the Midlake performance on Jools – not the best intro to Midlake but at least they are true to themselves above all.
Saw them in Helsinki last weekend supported by John Grant. John performed a number of tracks from his album Queen of Denmark and Midlake were on stage for about 1hr 40. They were performing with instruments borrowed locally as their own gear was still in transit but that did nothing to alter the brilliance of their professional sound; and the genious of many of their songs was hugely appreciated by the Finnish audience. What is it with the checky shirts though! It was like being stranded amongst Big Country groupies!
