The Loom describe themselves as a six-piece indie rock band from Brooklyn that features male/female vocals, horns, guitars, banjo, ukulele, keys, and percussion. All sounds very straightforward and humble, but they have been attracting a lot of attention since the release of their debut EP, At Last Light back in 2008. They have been touring since and have shared the stage with many artists played here on Folk Radio UK including: The Antlers, Rock Plaza Central and Julie Doiron.
The New Yorker recently described The Loom as “the beloved Brooklyn sextet who have lately been guiding their chamber-folk sound to decidedly louder sonic territory,” now we’re getting somewhere. They’re no ordinary indie band at all and we like them a lot. Just check the videos and tracks below!
The Loom completed their debut album, Teeth, this year for which the Album art was created by DM Stith (another FRUK artist…small world).
The band was recently featured in Paste Magazine’s “Best of What’s Next.” They played 8 shows at SXSW 2010, including the Muzzle of Bees Backyard Barbecue which you can see below:
