Arborea – Phantasmagoria in Two

We have been following Arborea since the release of Wayfaring Summer in 2006. I have yet to come across an artist that sounds anything like them. They draw inspiration from many other great artists including Robie Basho, Martin Simpson and Tim Buckley.

They have been getting a lot more exposure in recent years and they never seem to rest. As well as a self titled release in 2008 they curated a compilation album for the World Food Program Benefit by some of today’s most creative Indie Folk musicians, including Devendra Banhart, Alela Diane, Marissa Nadler, Arborea, Fern Knight, Rio en Medio, and more.More recently they curated a tribute CD to Robbie Basho titled We Are All One, In The Sun which is due for release on 11th May. In addition to Arborea performing it includes contributions from artists: Steffen Basho-Junghans, Helena Espvall, Meg Baird, Glenn Jones, Cian Nugent, Rahim AlHaj and Fern Night. Full details can be found here: Important Records.

They have recently appeared at SXSW and did some recording shortly afterwards. The following track is a cover of Tim Buckley’s Phantasmagoria in Two. They both enjoyed the results of this and will be featureing it on their next album…enjoy!

This song is so gorgeous, I keep listening to it over and over again. Do you happen to know if there is a place where downloading this mp3 is possible? It seems that yours is set up only to listen to- I can’t figure out a way to download it. Any information you may have about this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for all the Arborea coverage- they are wonderful musicians who grow better with each release. Thank you-

Not yet Steve, this is a pre-release they sent me. It will be on their next album. Not sure when that will be, hopefully later this year.
