Tegan and Sara – Sainthood

Tegan and Sara released Sainthood, their sixth album, in October 2009 . They chose to have Chris Walla (Death Cab for Cutie) return to produce the album. They cleary felt that his production on their fifth album The Con was a solid enough building block to further explore and build upon their sound.

Their decision seems to have been a wise one as the album possesses a greater depth of sound with less clutter and greater expression then previous albums. Tegan and Sara’s back to basics approach seems to have opened up a new doorway for them. That doesn’t mean to say this album is laid back. It’s dynamic and full of the energy you would expect from them. I’ve been enjoying their music for a few years now but I think this new album will introuduce them to a whole new audience. I’m not suggesting they’ve moved more mainstream here, but their music and expression has definately matured and I like it a lot.

There are some great tracks on the album with hooks to match. Alligator is sure a favourite…but the whole album holds together very well.
