I knew Alistair as a comrade in the SWP. My highlight of our comradeship was always seeing each other at Marxism. A sad lost to folk music and revolutionary politics’. Rest In Peace Comrade!!!

I am so grieved to hear of Alistair’s death. I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times, once in Edinburgh and once at MARXISM i London…he will be sadly missed.

Very sad a terrible loss….from years ago in the “Sando” to the last concert in the Bald Faced Stag in Sydney only a few weeks ago Alistair always sang from the heart..he will be sadly missed.

He was one of few folk musicians that made contact with me and made a big impression upon me in our chats.

There isn’t another folk singer like him…big shoes to fill!

Very sad to read of the death of Alistar. Met him in 1995 in Sydney and played with him there also. I enjoyed his company greatly. R.I.P. Jo Marsh
