Lou Barlow – Goodnight Unknown

If you’re gonna make a documentary about the making of an album do you play it for the audience or do you open up the depths of your soul? Do you stand naked before your audience in all your quirkiness and expose your habbits and eccentricities that you know some narrow minded half-wit will think “this guy is fucking nuts!”

Why not?…Lou Barlow last heard on the Frukie stream with EMOH…fast forward 4 years and Lou has released ‘Goodnight Unknown’, the day after his daughter was born. This documentary was made about the making of the album. It has the feel of a fly-on-the-wall doc which gives it that reality feel and also an insight into Lou Barlow’s mind. From his isolated moments of creativity, frustration and the post 9 to 5 production effort of domestic bliss you’ll see him creating as well as winding up little toys and watching them run across the floor with his daughter…it captures it all. I loved it!
