How to Live Off-Grid

off-gridMany of us at some time or other have wished or dreamed about being off-grid. Well I have, and still do. I came across this book by Nick Rosen a while back and it made in interesting and inspiring read.

Static or mobile – in a house or a hut, a boat or a campervan – to live off-grid is all about loosening the ties that bind us to the familiar world of commuting, mortgages (booo), no time and fast food (and don’t forget surveillance cameras)…this book is all about rediscovering our place in the natural world.

Nick sets off in his campervan around the UK to find off-grid heaven and to meet people who really are living the dream. He runs into backpackers and businessmen, radical hermits and ordinary working families. Some off-griders have a goal: save the world, it’s all they can afford and freedom.

The book makes a fascinating read and also acts as a guide to finding solutions as he strives to perfect his skills of this practical, freewheeling kind of self-sufficiency!
