Youtube and PRS squabble

Many of you may already have already heard that PRS and Youtube have fallen out over royalties for Music Videos. As a result of the demands made by PRS, Youtube have blocked anyone from the UK trying to view Music Videos…This Blog and the main site may well have some empty spaces as a result. PRS has urged Youtube to lift the block and to continue negotiations.

So we or may not get videos back…of course you will be able to view them if you are viewing from outside the UK.

Folk Radio UK is run on the voluntary support of listeners. Click here to help keep us going. A little help goes a long way.

Difficult one to resolve, this one.
I think Youtube is used mostly for music, so they are cutting off their nose to spite their face, and PRS are being particularly aggressive about what is in reality low quality material
Surely, the best compromise is to give the artists involved the ultimate decision on a case by case basis. If you don’t want your stuff on youtube, tell them to switch it off.
that’s how I see it, anyway.

Not so bad as it only appears to affect Official Videos so not all those on the site are blocked
